TAKESADA MATSUTANI
JAPAN HOUSE São Paulo welcomes one of the great names in post-war Japanese art, the contemporary artist Takesada Matsutani. For the first time in Brazil, the exhibit will take place from March 6 to 11, parallel to the exhibition that will be taking place at the Bergamin & Gomide gallery.
Renowned as an avant-garde creator, Takesada’s main material is vinyl glue (a type of contact adhesive that adheres quickly and remains flexible after drying). The pieces to be showcased at JAPAN HOUSE São Paulo will be: Stream São Paulo, 2015 (Vinyl adhesive, graphite, sumi ink, and paper assembled on canvas – 91 x 335 cm) and Project-2, 2015 (Graphite and sumi ink on paper – 61 x 8…1 cm).
PROGRAM
• The artist will carry out two special activities geared for children. At the “Point of Contact,” children will interact with the artist and materials (paint, wooden stick, cotton fabric) that will be on the floor. In the “Drawings” activity, meanwhile, the kids will be invited to draw on paper with Matsutani.
